Sustainable Agricultural Inputs (SAI) was originally established in 1983 by Andy McCartney. Andy worked as an independent salesman for several big companies before going solely with SAI in 1996. Andy became a familiar face in the agricultural scene with fountains of knowledge backing him over the years. After looking to retire post lockdown at the age of 84 Andy handed the reigns over to Daniel and Christopher Newbould, who had helped andy throughout the tough lockdown period. Daniel and Christopher are a father and son team who farm a small dairy farm in Lochmaben, South West Scotland. Milking 120 Montbeliardes through 2 Fullwood Packo M2erlin Robots. Having used a range of the products they would be selling thought it a worthy challenge to embrace.

Due to greater environmental pressures and rising costs it became apparent that the farm should try to become more sustainable and focus on getting the most from home grown feeds & forage.  Daniel & Chris have been using products supplied by SAI on their home farm since taking over and have seen yields & efficiencies increase as a result.  Daniel and Christopher hope to continue in Andy’s footsteps and help farmers become more sustainable for the future.
